Blow-In-Blanket System (BIBS)

®

What is Blow-In-Blanket ® (BIBS®) insulation?

The Blow-In Blanket® System is a proprietary, high-performance insulation system which incorporates loose fiberglass blown into walls, floors, attics, and cathedral ceilings. In new construction, the fiber is blown behind proprietary mesh fabric, forming a seamless blanket of insulation. The Blow-In-Blanket® System completely fills around pipes, wires and other objects inside the cavity, eliminating costly voids and air gaps.

Blow-In-Blanket® Advantages:

Blow-In-Blanket insulation works with any blueprint and fits any configuration. Cavities. Curves. Vaulted ceilings. Crawl spaces. Custom windows. The Blow-In-Blanket System (BIBS®) is a proven, time-tested, premium insulation. It blows in easily, fills completely and lasts for the life of your home! Unlike other insulation systems that may leave voids or gaps, BIBS® completely fills the space to control sound, reduce air infiltration and promote thermal efficiency in the wall cavity.

  • Can fit anywhere, even inside wall gaps of only a couple of inches
  • Will not settle in walls
  • Seamless install, no gaps or voids
  • Has a superior noise reduction quality
  • Installs well into existing structures
  • Cost-Effective and provides the most R value per inch
  • Naturally nonflammable and does not support the growth of mold
  • Contains no formaldehyde

Important additional step - Thermal Imaging and air sealing

Prior to installing the Blow-In-Blanket ® system insulation, it is imperitive to seal all seams and gaps in the framing with EcoSeal or Spray Foam. All electrical boxes, wire penetrations, plumbing, junction boxes etc., all allow the movement of air from the warm interior space to the cold outdoors. This air movement, although seamingly minute, can drastically reduce the R-value of any installed insulation. At Greenways we utilize thermal imaging equipment to locate and seal all problem penetrations to provide the best installation possible. For more on our thermal imaging services, Read More..

Irregular cavity installation

Installing BIBS Fabric Mesh

When conventional batting is installed in non-standard cavities or in irregular framed areas, problems occur. Batting must be cut to fit for these areas, creating gaps and seams that allow air to escape and decrease the R-Value. BlBS® is a seamless blanket of insulation that custom-fits any size or shape cavity. This guarantees a uniform R-Value throughout the entire cavity, and controls air infiltration.

  • Seal all penetrations and framing gaps with EcoSeal or SprayFoam
  • Install BIBS® fabric
  • Dense pack fiberglass into cavities under BIBS® fabric

Blow-In-Blanket HP® (Hybrid Performance System)

Combine the best of both Polyurethane Spray Foam and BIBS® technologies to save money. When leveraging the air sealing of Closed Cell Spray Polyurethane foam and the cost effectiveness of the cavity filling BIBS®, a homeowner can achieve great insulation performance while saving on the cost of a full Spray Foam installation.

Greenway's Insulation recommends an installation of 2" of Closed Cell Spray Polyurethane foam followed by a complete cavity fill of dense packed BIBS® to achieve a cost effective maximum insulating performance the cavity will allow.
